¿What
do we do?
Loros Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation and protection of psittacine species, including parrots, macaws, parakeets, and parrotlets.
The organization collaborates with CARDIQUE and other governmental organizations to rehabilitate animals, working with biologists and veterinarians to assess their suitability for release.
Before releasing an animal, Loros Foundation conducts a veterinary health and behavioral assessment. Additionally, they improve the environment of the release site and consider appropriate climatic and seasonal factors, as well as community education. All of this is done with prior approval from the relevant governmental authority.
The organization also focuses on reforestation with native dry tropical forest trees and encourages reproduction through the installation of nests.
Moreover, Loros Foundation raises social awareness about biodiversity protection and promotes research studies on the ecology, natural history, and conservation of psittacine species. For the organization, an animal has only been successfully released if it integrates into the breeding population and produces offspring.
In summary, Loros Foundation’s mission is to protect and conserve psittacine species through rehabilitation, reforestation, and social awareness.
