Who we are

A nonprofit dedicated to the rehabilitation of parrots, registered with CARDIQUE, with operations based in Villanueva, Bolívar.

Institutional identity

Fundación Loros exists so that one day it will no longer be needed.

We are a multidisciplinary group — biologists, veterinarians, caretakers, forest rangers, environmental authorities, and people who love animals — with a single mission: to give psittacines a second chance after captivity and illegal trade. Every parrot that arrives — rescued, seized, abandoned, or surrendered after years of captivity — has a story, a harm to repair, and the right to be free again. We don't manage populations in the abstract: we care for individual animals, and that care is the starting point for everything we do. We operate under bylaws reformed in April 2026 and current registration with the regional environmental authority (CARDIQUE).

Each subsection answers a different question from those evaluating the foundation: international partners, environmental authorities, journalists, and donors.

  1. Manifesto

    Why we exist, what we believe about parrots and freedom, and what it means to prepare the individual, the territory, and the human community that receives them.

  2. Team and governance

    Governance structure defined in the bylaws: Permanent Founder, Assembly, Legal Representative, and Fiscal Auditor, alongside the field operations team.

  3. Wildlife management model

    Regulatory framework (CARDIQUE Resolution 1972/2022), animal destination hierarchy, minimal handling principle, and territorial coordination with neighbors and authorities.

  4. Organizational culture

    Mission, vision, principles, and anti-principles that guide daily decisions and filter the partnerships we accept.

  5. Transparency

    Formal data, downloadable documents, environmental permits, financial model, non-profit rules, and last fiscal year's distribution.

Support the foundation

Every peso we receive supports the rehabilitation of a parrot, the reforestation of the tropical dry forest, or the education of local children in a different relationship with wildlife.
