Regenerative agriculture
To fund its activities, Fundación Loros grows tropical crops typical of the region — including yuca, plantain, corn, and other produce. The yuca grown by the Foundation is known for its distinct flavor and texture, and the land around Villanueva is ideal for its cultivation.
Fundación Loros has also committed to planting 5,000 native fruit trees before 2025 to preserve the fruit varieties typical of the region: mango, zapote, guanábana, guayaba, chirimoya, anón, mamey, and others.
The Foundation works to contribute to a sustainable future and protect biodiversity and water by reforesting previously cleared areas of tropical dry forest — especially around streams, where species such as caracolí are planted to protect water sources.
All of these activities have had a positive social impact in Villanueva, providing work for approximately 100 farmers and protecting the region's water resources.
The Foundation sells yuca (wholesale) in weekly quantities starting at 100 kilograms. To get in touch, write to alejandro@loros.org or send a WhatsApp message to 3206960469.
